CAREER OPPORTUNITY
 
The Fair Trading Commission is seeking to recruit an individual to fill the post of Research Officer.
 
The position offers an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys research and has the requisite skills to conduct in-depth studies using a variety of methodologies.
 
The Research Officer will report to the Director of Fair Competition and will engage in conducting investigations and preparing reports in areas related, but not limited to competition law and policy, business/market processes and conduct, as well as economic activities.
 
The ideal candidate must be able to provide evidence of his/her ability to write analytically and proficiently on complex matters, to use Microsoft Office and statistical packages for data analysis.
 
The Research Officer will be required to:
  • Conduct research on matters related to competition;
  • Engage in the comprehensive analysis of complex market/business issues;
  • Prepare reports detailing research findings for the Commission;
  • Be highly analytical;
  • Be effective at time management and produce under pressure; and
  • Work in a very dynamic environment that requires multitasking.
Applicants should:
  • Hold a Bachelors’ degree in economics, management or a relevant discipline;
  • Have a minimum of three years’ relevant work experience;
  • Possess strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and organisational skills;
  • Be willing to work as part of a team.
Familiarity with competition law and policy or experience gained in a research-oriented environment would be an asset.
