PUBLIC NOTICE
DECISION ON FEED-IN-TARIFFS FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES UP TO AND INCLUDING 1MW
On December 30, 2022, the Fair Trading Commission issued its Decision on Feed-in- Tariffs (FITs) for Renewable Energy (RE) Technologies up to and including 1MW.
In accordance with the Fair Trading Commission Act, CAP. 326B (Amended), the Utilities Regulation Act, CAP. 282 (Amended), and with consideration of the objectives outlined
in the Barbados National Energy Policy, comments submitted during the November 2, 2022 to December 2, 2022 public consultation and applicable market developments, the Commission has determined the following:
- The effective date for this component of the FIT programme shall be January 1, 2023.
- FIT contracts obtained under this Decision shall apply for 20 years.
- The FITs for solar PV and land-based wind systems sized up to and including
1MW by bands specified are set out in the table in the Decision.
- The Barbados Light & Power Company Limited will purchase 100% of the output of each respective RE facility for a period of 20 years from the facility’s commercial
operation date.
